Beary Merry Mischief: The Bear Heist Unwrapped!
In a bizarre case of insurance fraud, four suspects in Los Angeles allegedly staged break-ins of luxury vehicles while dressed in bear suits. They claimed bears caused the damages, submitting staged footage to support their false insurance claims.
The gang targeted high-end cars, including a Rolls-Royce and two Mercedes models, defrauding insurers of $141,839 !!! A biologist consulted by investigators confirmed the footage featured “clearly a human in a bear suit.”
Police recovered a bear costume, metal claw-like tools, and evidence of multiple claims from the suspects’ homes. Charges include insurance fraud and conspiracy.
