The Western States Auto Theft Investigators (WSATI) Northern Chapter recently held its meeting at the Cobra Experience in Martinez, CA, a museum dedicated to preserving the history of Carroll Shelby’s legendary Ford Cobra. The event brought together law enforcement professionals, investigators, and industry experts to discuss the latest trends and strategies in combating auto theft.

Attendees had the unique opportunity to explore the Cobra Experience’s impressive collection of Shelby American vehicles, including original 289, 427, and Daytona Coupes, as well as historical memorabilia showcasing the legacy of Carroll Shelby. The museum provided a fitting backdrop for the meeting, as Shelby’s high-performance cars have long been a target for auto theft and collector fraud, making them an important subject of study for investigators.

Carroll Shelby was a visionary in American motorsports, best known for developing the Ford Cobra, a high-powered sports car that combined lightweight British AC bodies with Ford’s robust V8 engines. The result was a car that dominated racing circuits in the 1960s and solidified Shelby’s place in automotive history. The Cobra remains an iconic vehicle, with original models fetching millions at auction.

The WSATI meeting at the Cobra Experience was a blend of education, networking, and automotive history, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in the fight against vehicle theft. With such an iconic venue, attendees left with a deeper appreciation for both their work and the legendary machines that continue to capture the hearts of enthusiasts worldwide.
